Chrysotile fibers of natural genesis are considered as the reinforcing agent for fiber concrete from the point of their optimality. Based on a range of physical, mechanical and ecological properties requirements criteria of an optimality of the reinforcing agent, such as the elasticity modulus of fiber, the relation of elasticity modulus of fiber to the module of a cement matrix, the adhesive and cohesive durability, thermal stability are formulated.

The facts allow to draw a conclusion on comparative harmlessness of chrysotile. The explanation for various groups of fibers having the general name of "asbestos" is offered. It is shown that exactly chrysotile fibers possess the best ecological properties. In work conditions, it is shown that from the point of rigid and strength properties chrysotile fibers possess a number of advantages in comparison with "competitors", and the structure of chrysotile fibers is causing abundance of surface-active elements providing unsurpassed adhesive properties. All these qualities of the chrysotile fibers makes it optimum for use as the reinforcing agent for fiber-concrete.

FIBROCON stabilizer is intended for prevention of stratifying of concrete mixes at their preparation, transportation and placing in a constructive layer. Use of fibers gives new properties to concrete. Material becomes stronger and plastic at the same time. Cracking when drying and hardening is prevented, and corrosion of fittings is also eliminated.

FIBROCON stabilizing additive represents mix of fibers of various length in the range from 0.071 mm to 4.8 mm. The composition of the additive consists of mineral chrysotile fiber and organic knitting in quantity from 10 to 30% by its weight.

Natural chrysotile fiber does not have equal competitive materials compared in such parameters as thermal stability, durability. These qualities are widely used in equipment, including production of thermal coverings of spacecraft. In comparison with the standard stabilizing additives for concretes, FIBROCON has a number of advantages:

  • possesses high thermal stability, maintains temperature up to 700˚C that gives the possibility to ready concrete constructions be more resistant to heat and not break under high temperature impact;
  • it does not reduce to fragments at long dry mixing, and it becomes fluffed up on thinner fibers that provides the best reinforcing properties;
  • does not interact with water and does not led to corrosion of fittings;
  • does not decay that provides long service life;
  • fibers of chrysotile possess high tensile strength that increases wear resistance of concrete, and also reduces formation of cracks and shrinkable deformations.

It should be noted that concrete mix with the content of chrysotile fiber with the organic binder keeps technological effectiveness of mix and its convenient laying process, and does not raise water-cement proportion in accordance with State Standard (GOST 7473-2010 Mixes concrete. Specifications.)
