Only high-density chrysotile products are manufactured and sold today. The unique feature of these products is that the chrysotile fiber is encapsulated in a matrix of cement or resin, preventing the release of fibers. Over 90% of chrysotile used worldwide today is in the manufacture of fiber-cement building and construction materials.

More than 90% of the world production of chrysotile is used in the manufacture of chrysotile-cement, in the form of pipes, sheets and shingles. These products are used in some sixty industrialized and developing countries. Chrysotile-cement is valued principally for its excellent cost effectiveness and durability. Manufacture of this material requires the import of only small quantities of fiber, the other raw materials being easily available locally.

Moreover, the manufacturing technology requires little investment and consumes less energy than production methods for competing products. Because of its natural resistance to heat, chrysotile fibers have been widely used in friction materials. Automobile brake shoes, disk pads, clutches and elevators brakes are common examples of products using chrysotile fiber.

CHRYZOTOP granular stabilizer is intended for prevention of stratifying of stone mastic asphalt (SMA) concrete mixes at their preparation, transportation and laying in a constructive layer. Effect of an additive is characterized by an achievement of a preset value of an indicator of the binder draining from mix in accordance with State Standard of Russian Federation (GOST 31015-2002).

CHRYZOTOP granular stabilizer represents mix of granules of cylindrical form with a diameter of 4-6 mm. Granules are composed from a chrysotile mineral fiber and organic binder in quantity of 10 to 20% by weight.

Chrysotile fibers of natural genesis are considered as the reinforcing agent for fiber concrete from the point of their optimality. Based on a range of physical, mechanical and ecological properties requirements criteria of an optimality of the reinforcing agent, such as the elasticity modulus of fiber, the relation of elasticity modulus of fiber to the module of a cement matrix, the adhesive and cohesive durability, thermal stability are formulated.

The facts allow to draw a conclusion on comparative harmlessness of chrysotile. The explanation for various groups of fibers having the general name of "asbestos" is offered. It is shown that exactly chrysotile fibers possess the best ecological properties. In work conditions, it is shown that from the point of rigid and strength properties chrysotile fibers possess a number of advantages in comparison with "competitors", and the structure of chrysotile fibers is causing abundance of surface-active elements providing unsurpassed adhesive properties. All these qualities of the chrysotile fibers makes it optimum for use as the reinforcing agent for fiber-concrete.
